A Finish: Left
I’ve simply named this mini quilt “left”. I’ve tried to incorporate arrow signs pointing left, after the Speed Date With Improv class with Krista Hennebury last month gave me lots of pieces that could create arrow-like shapes. It challenged my left brain, the side that likes to be organised and follow a pattern, and also I’m left handed so that may have been an influence too.
There’s a few techniques I’ll probably use again, I especially liked the piano keys.
Size – 19 1/2″ x 26″
Number of blocks – n/a really, but I can identify 28 units that I then filled out from.
Time to make – A 6 hour class and then some composition and quilting at home- 11 hours is my estimate.
Fabric – Solids – Black, White and Kona Torch.
Binding Fabric – More black solid
Backing Fabric – Blueberry Park white on black print for Robert Kaufman
Threads – I think I used Aurifil for most of the piecing because I didn’t want to bring along my Konfetti cone. Quilted in orange Polyfast (50wt poly).
Batting – Hobbs 80/20 scrap
Quilting- On point straight lines with an echo 1/4″ away. I used the method of sticking a stiletto to the arm of my machine since I can’t attach a guide to the foot.
