Hot bots
My list of Christmas makes was a cushion for my MIL which I’m not sure I’m actually going to make or not yet, two sew together bags and six hot water bottle covers from this tutorial by Jude. If I can slip a finished bear quilt in this timeframe too that would be excellent.
Well some progress has been made and it’s not even December yet, yeah!
Six hot water bottles all done, some pieced, others with decorative stitches. The pieced ones were made with kindly gifted mini charm packs sent to me with my Starbucks Banff mug from the lovely Leanne. She wouldn’t even let me pay for the mug that I’d overlooked- thanks to her I have a full collection for our trip this year.
We’re off again in June, I know there’s a Toronto mug, but does anyone know if there’s an Ottawa one? If so then I’m getting both!
P.S. Bear quilt underway – Hank has possibly eaten my quarter inch foot so progress on anything that requires accurate pieced seams is now postponed until further notice…

Great idea for a present! Love your mug collection. I got a New Jersey one gifted to me as part of a mini quilt swap! Hope Hank doesn’t have any adverse effects from the 1/4″ foot!

I’m trying not laugh at the disappearing 1/4″ foot, but I’m not succeeding. There’s a 1/4″ setting on the Sapphires that supposedly lets you stitch a 1/4″ seam with a normal foot. I guess it just moves the needle a pre-defined amount, but I don’t know what aligns with what. Until the foot reappears (yuck if via Hank’s digestive system!) or you get a new one, can you play around with an existing foot and the needle position?

I love the idea of hot water bottle covers as presents. If you use you regular a foot on your husqvarna and move the needle to 1.8 or 2 for scant you should have the right seam allowance using the edge of your foot. I never use my quarter inch foot. Good luck.

I’ll ask friends in Ottawa about the existence of the mug, as the capital, they might be the Canada mug city. I’m glad you put those mini charms to good use, you are doing so well on the holiday makes. Just put a piece of coloured tape along the bed of your machine at the 1/4′ mark and you are back in business.

Oh Hank! Hopefully he’s not suffering? Love those covers- you have been productive. I attempted to self draft one a few weeks ago as present for Matt- am too embarrassed to actually show the finished thing off but hey ho it does the job.
P.S- I WANT your spotty cups/jug…
